Normal mode purifies up to 99.99% of pathogens in 60 seconds, and adventure mode purifies up to 99.9999% of water in three minutes. It doesn't seem like much of a difference, but that 0.0099% can make or break water that comes from a stream or other natural source.

Even if your water smells and tastes fine, harmful chemicals could be lurking inside. Water pollutants fall into different categories, but the main ones of concern in your shower water are toxic metals, chlorine (used as a disinfectant) and the byproducts that chlorine creates with other chemicals in the water.

Brita's filtered water bottles come in plastic and stainless steel. It's BPA-free and relatively sturdy, but I wouldn't take this bottle on a backpacking trip. It would suffice for day hikes, however, if you filled it up with tap water first (use with natural water at your own risk).

Suncoo If you're operating on a tight budget, this shower filter is great because it's less than $10. It mainly gets rid of chlorine but can dissolve some heavy metals as well. So if better skin and healthier hair is your main concern, it's a great choice.  And, once again, this filter fits onto any shower head you currently use.
