Get down to their level. A great big looming adult with a camera hiding their face can be frightening and overwhelming - get down on your knees or crouch down to their height and you will be instantly more approachable. Photos from this perspective also look much better than ones from above, which can skew proportions and make for odd angles.

As a general rule if the model is over 18 years of age i.e. an adult, the model can come unaccompanied. On the other hand, it is a normal practice, that a model brings with her an acquaintance. This can be a sister, brother or simply a friend. A model might find it encouraging having a friend to support her. But there is more in it for you. While shooting, you can ask politely this person to hold for you a reflector, a flash or any photographic equipment. In return, the person would appreciate being involved in taking an active role during the photo shoot. It would make the person feel that he is part of the team rather than just a spectator.

In the past you could get by with a business card and word of mouth. The reality is that today the internet and social media marketing are an important part of any candid Photographers business. You will need to have a website setup and make sure you have e-mail as well. You don't want to use a yahoo or g-mail account as your business e-mail. This doesn't look professional for one and also may scare aware potential clients.

My sister in law is getting married in May (yay!) and at first she wasn't sure about me photographing the wedding, not because she doesn't like my work, but because she didn't want me to have to work at her wedding (isn't she sweet!). Of course a bit of realism is important when planning outdoor photo shoots in the cold weather. One woman I know was in a wedding movies whose bride insisted that the entire bridal party be photographed in the outside courtyard of the hotel where the reception was to take place. The only problem was that it was February in Vermont, and the temperature was sub-zero. For every picture the photographer snapped, the shivering wedding party had to hold their breath to keep their frosty breath from obscuring their faces! This may have been a case when the bride could have let that one particular photo op go for the sake of everyone concerned.

So I've experienced what it is people, just like you and me, who wish their photography to embody all their tears, smiles and laughter, capture the relationships they have with their loved ones, and document their life's most meaningful moments, really desire to get out of their wedding movies photography when it's all said and done.

It's Photoshoots purdy. Or at least it can be. Don't kid yourself by digging up an old bed sheet and calling it a day. The hottest photo booths right now feature an aesthetically-pleasing backdrop of some kind, preferably personalized for the new couple (I think one with the pair's initials would be pretty adorbs myself). Simply hang up, add some cute embellishments, grab the tripod and camera and you're good to go.
