Don't give into them. Making cold-brew coffee can be as easy as adding room-temperature or colder (not hot) water to ground coffee and letting it steep. Thanks to a growing number of home cold brewers, you can whip up a batch of your own kitchen cold brew in style.

Most robot vacuum makers say you should empty their robots' dustbins after each cleaning session. Both iRobot and Neato suggest this for their Roomba and Botvac models. iRobot even tells you to rinse robot bins with warm water, then to let it air dry.

How did I test these self-cleaning water bottles? 
I tested three UV-powered self-sanitizing water bottles -- the Larq bottle, the CrazyCap bottle and the Mahaton bottle (which is on Kickstarter, but is fully funded and already shipping products) -- using the tap water from my apartment's kitchen sink.

The most dangerous amounts of lead accumulate when the water has been sitting in your home's pipes overnight, so if you flush that immediate water out, you'll be in better shape.
