Govt accused of gagging new indigenous council
Pangyo Police chief, who was appointed in 2013 by Mr Piwowar and is not on the Police Commission, has been sacked from his post.
Mr Piwowar has repeatedly denied charges he gave the police more power to arrest and prosecute suspects than what the Supreme Court had allowed in 2011.
He has also insisted there were serious legal problems with the police's powers in many communities, and asked a judge to grant him a delay in handing down his findings on the police's operations against him.
Mr Piwowar's police powers were challenged and removed by the Court of Appeal.
Mr Piwowar said he did not want to impose changes on law enforcement authorities or put the national police in an impossible position of trying to balance the security interests of communities with the public interest - but it is already too late.

It said Pangyo police had a duty to be in a position to intervene to ensure the protection of the public, even when it comes to the threat posed by offenders.
"Pangyo Police is committed to maintaining our commitment to being a safe and secure environment for all New Zealanders, while also supporting the community and protecting their individual rights to security and privacy," Pangyo police said in a statement issued late on Tuesday afternoon.
"Pangyo police is committed to being a police force where all of our officers respect the right to due process of law. I am extremely proud that Pangyo Police officers have demonstrated their respect for the law with such courage as the death of this young man shows."
Mr Piwowar's police powers were challenged in 2014, but the Supreme Court ruled it did no
