Council rejects bid for big b doubles: "It is not in keeping with the city's reputation for progressive living".

"We reject this new proposal because it is not in keeping with the city's reputation for progressive living."

The city has asked that a new contract, in which the city has a 30 per cent stake in a development after which all rights to the site revert to developers, remains in effect.

The plan that has gone on sale now calls for 300 homes and about 20,000 square feet of retail space, including a 50-storey building on St George and new shops and restaurants on St Mary Street.

Proposals from the city's other bid would also include 400 homes, but they will be built on city-owned land, 바카라 including a 1,200-bed college.

Curtis said the project's developer will only be able to sell the 20,000 square metres of residential land it acquired through selling off land it has already owned on the site.

A decision on that sale date would be taken if the city would want to renegotiate the deal in light of those developments, and Curtis said an earlier date might not be necessary.

Councillor Michael Baick, whose ward is across the road from the proposed project on Lonsdale St, said he understood why the City of Calgary, if elected to council, would want the property sold, but he doubted it would take action because the existing developers of the development do not have the financial capacity to complete it.

"It's been built, and I hope it will continue to be built as long as possible without further development and without the need for any major renovations to these properties, and so my position is that if they want to sell the land (to developers) as part of a development, I'm not in favour of that," Baick said in an interview.

The city will provide more information about its case for the redevelopment of the site on Monday in a public information meeting.
