Canberra developer fined for not removing asbestos during construction

A Victorian business owner has been fined $7,500 for not removing asbestos from the roof of their apartment.

A City of Sydney Court jury found James Deacon committed a serious breach of trust that affected five people in July last year.

The jury also found the City of Sydney failed to take reasonable steps to protect the residents from serious and possible cancer-causing exposure.

This week the business won its appeal and is now back on its land.

The business had been trying to demolish the building, but had to move on after it was found to have "lack of asbestos control on three floor and five floor premises".

The business was also ordered to remove asbestos at all levels of the building, including floor 바카라 five.

Mr Deacon was fined $1,000 for breach of trust over the matter and 바카라 must also spend $7,500 to maintain his property.
