In what would be a tiny occurrence with what could possibly be much wider ranging implications, capsa susun the Illinois State Lottery recently had become the first American lottery provider to offer tickets online.

This may appear strange to non-U.S. citizens but it is not via a lack of technological capability. The reason dates back to 1961 along with the Wire Act, some legislation which prohibited betting on sports events through telephone. Until recently, uncertainty about whether this Act also restricted online casino and lottery gaming meant no person risked breaching legislation.

That was until December 2011 when the U.S. Department of Justice decided how the Wire Act only restricted sports betting on the internet and not other items, which include gambling online. The Illinois State Lottery was the first one to offer this service and other States will really follow.

But so how exactly does this customize the once huge market for internet poker? What about blackjack and roulette? That's a more complex matter. These games still suffer from the effects in the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) 2006 which prohibited the transfer of greenbacks to websites offering these games.

Some states are searching for their own routes with this in mind legislation. While all poker fans would choose the government to control this industry and acquire it back on it's feet, currently it's as if it'll be around the greater progressive States to get the ball rolling.

Nevada will be the furthest along this particular track - at some point the bricks and mortar casino industry in Las Vegas and Reno were set against online gaming, fearing their revenues will be hit. They now have the symptoms of seen the writing about the wall and accepted that may happen sooner or later. Consequently some have created partnerships with existing non-U.S. online casinos to setup the necessary infrastructure when preparing for statewide regulation.

Nevada also boasts the Nevada Gaming Commission that's already along the way of starting a regulatory framework to govern intrastate on the internet. In the absence of any federal, nationwide regulation, American poker players can only hope how the quantity of states that are ready to press ahead with their particular gaming networks will reach sort of critical mass which will force the governments hand.

The Illinois State Lottery is often a small start but hopefully the initial step back about the road to sensible Casino legislation.
