In what would be a really small occurrence in what might be much wider ranging implications, the Illinois State Lottery recently had become the first American lottery provider to sell tickets capsa susun online.

This may sound strange to non-U.S. citizens but it's not by way of a deficiency of technological capability. The reason dates back to 1961 and the Wire Act, a bit of legislation which prohibited betting on sports events through the telephone. Until recently, uncertainty about whether this Act also restricted online casino and lottery gaming meant no-one risked breaching what the law states.

That was until December 2011 in the event the U.S. Department of Justice decided the Wire Act only restricted sports betting on the web and not alternative activities, that include internet gambling. The Illinois State Lottery was the first person to offer a reverse phone lookup and other States will certainly follow.

But how can this customize the once huge niche for online poker? What about blackjack and roulette? That's a more difficult matter. These games still have problems with the results in the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) 2006 which prohibited the transfer of income to websites offering these games.

Some states are seeking their unique routes with this in mind legislation. While all poker fans would prefer government entities to control this industry and have it back on it's feet, currently it's just as if it will likely be as much as the harder progressive States to obtain the ball rolling.

Nevada could be the furthest along this particular track - at one point the bricks and mortar casino industry in Las Vegas and Reno were set against on the internet, fearing their revenues can be hit. They now have the symptoms of seen the writing about the wall and accepted that could happen eventually. Consequently some have created partnerships with existing non-U.S. online casinos to create the necessary infrastructure in planning for statewide regulation.

Nevada also boasts the Nevada Gaming Commission that is already along the way of starting a regulatory framework to govern intrastate on the web. In the absence of any federal, nationwide regulation, American poker players only hope the amount of states which are ready to press ahead with their own gaming networks will reach a sort of critical mass that will force the governments hand.

The Illinois State Lottery is a small start but hopefully the initial step back around the road to sensible Casino legislation.
