Tucked inside your robot's dustbin is an air filter. It's designed to trap fine dust particles inside the bin as air flows through the vacuum. Over time these filters will become clogged with lint, hair and other physical debris. It's a good idea to inspect the filter each time you empty the bin.

Most robot vacuum makers say you should empty their robots' dustbins after each cleaning session. Both iRobot and Neato suggest this for their Roomba and Botvac models. iRobot even tells you to rinse robot bins with warm water, then to let it air dry.

I usually don't buy bottled water, and I don't have a faucet filter, so I often drink this tap water unaltered. I thoroughly cleaned each bottle and charged them overnight to ensure they were ready for testing. Then, I used each bottle for three days in place of my normal stainless steel reusable bottle. 

And just like any coffee brew, the ideal extraction percentage for espresso is a range between 18 and 22%. This yields a balanced cup, assuming you perform an even and efficient extraction of coffee compounds from your grounds (both flavor and caffeine).

Grayl The natural water I tested the bottles in already looked relatively clean, but when I poured a bit from the Geopress, I was shocked at how crystal-clear it looked. Sawyer Products offers all sorts of clean-water gadgets, but this bottle in particular uses a double-filtration system: The interior "Foam Adsorption Technology" removes heavy metals, chemicals, pesticides and viruses, while the exterior micron filter removes bacteria, protozoa, cysts, dirt and sediment.

Does your vacuum often fail to charge when it's in its dock? If that's the case, dirty electrical contacts could be the problem. Avoid this situation by cleaning these metal surfaces, both on the robot and its dock. Again, a slightly damp magic eraser or microfiber cloth will do the trick.

The only major difference between the three? The Larq and the CrazyCap both have two modes, while the Mahaton only has one. If you plan on using your self-cleaning water bottle with outdoor sources of water, you may want to opt for the Larq or the CrazyCap since they have overdrive modes that kill even more micro-organisms.

On the opposite end of the scale, under extracted brews tend to have undeveloped flavors. Lacking sugars and other caramelized organic chemicals, these shots will taste sour, weak and watery.      

Larq was the only one of the three bottles that didn't taste significantly better than my tap water, however. It tasted slightly cleaner, but I probably couldn't tell the difference if someone blind taste-tested me.

Truthfully, all three of these water bottles did a great job at keeping themselves clean. After three days of constant refills and no hand-washing, none of these bottles smelled musty or had any sort of film on the inside, two things my normal stainless steel bottle often produces.

Brita's filtered water bottles come in plastic and stainless steel. It's BPA-free and relatively sturdy, but I wouldn't take this bottle on a backpacking trip. It would suffice for day hikes, however, if you filled it up with tap water first (use with natural water at your own risk).

Dirt and dust can also confuse a robot's array of sensors. Whether your vacuum uses lidar, an optical system or basic navigation hardware, it won't run properly if it can't see or sense its surroundings. 

The biggest difference between filtered water bottles and self-cleaning water bottles is that the UV technology used in self-cleaning bottles doesn't get rid of dirt and sediment. So while the bottles can kill viruses, bacteria and other micro-organisms that can make you sick, they won't filter out heavy metals or other particulates.
