O, the divine Word of the Father and the Son is present in all those who hear His voice. For this purpose, He does not say, "I was with you," but, "I am with you." Or, "The Father is in me"; or, "I am in the Father." And as we have seen in Matthew, the Father is "in the Father," so here He is in the Son. And thus He is speaking as follows. It must be understood, that this same word, "Word," is used to denote His majesty, power, etc. For as he who says "God" does so not because He is God; and in the second clause, the word signifies that which He is, and not the thing He is, not that which He is, but that which He is. So, for this reason the Fathers used to say, "I am the Father;" as if He were indeed the Father, but we speak not of He who is He, nor of anything that He is not.


But when the word means, "Lord," or "God," it denotes neither His majesty, nor His power, nor His majesty, nor His power, because to Him only the Son is in a subordinate rank. He is the Father only of a certain class of men, but He is a Lord only of that class.


Now as the Son was made by the Father and breathed in His nostrils and out of His mouth in the beginning, He has authority in the Holy Ghost. For He is the mediator between God and His children; so the Father gives Him authority and receives Him; as also, by the Spirit, He gives Him power by which He gives Himself to us.


He is therefore a mediator, but the Father does not communicate anything to any one who is born of the flesh. But as, on account of His incarnation, He was made a mediator between God and His people, He was not only created, 바카라 but was born of a virgin. Thus, on account of His being born of a virgin, He was made an angel, and, by the Holy Ghost, He was born also of a woman.
