1) You must be committed to your dreams and goals. We are not talking about "fingers-crossed-wishing". We are talking that unshakable, gut level determination. If you don't have this, if you are just "hoping" this will work, don't even get started. No successful person starts a business on a whim, or with a mere fantasy.

My student was having a dilemma about his choice of career path. He had boldly gone with his heart, soul and spent his bank account on his dream. After blood, sweat and tears, he sadly returned home empty handed. He asked me why he would want to do something so badly, only to have it blow up instructional Development consultant his face? He did learn a valuable lesson, he made some new friends, but at the end of the day, the project just didn't work. But why?

I have been trying several different ways to re-invent myself over the past several months. This has been a very interesting journey as I am listening to all kinds of people who state in very convincing terms that they have found the way to a new life for me. Every one of them have fallen short of showing me the way that really gets me excited and filled with hope.

The people that change things and make things happen, or that inspire others to move forward rarely do so because they mandate that their ideas or status to the people they connect with. They inspire and spark transformation through their passion for their company, idea, product, project, etc...That's because passion is contagious. Having a well positioned brand opens the door to a place of influence and impact. If you can't get genuinely excited about what you are doing, how do can you expect to have lasting impact and meaningful influence with people and in situations.

I never understood why I had such an aversion to and trouble with numbers and mathematics. I wasn't stupid, I was reading before the end of kindergarten and have been devouring the written word ever since. English and history were easy subjects as were any others based on language and not numbers. Over the years I just decided I was 'stupid in math', that math was 'just not logical'. Then one day I mentioned in an online forum that I felt I had some sort of dyslexia but with numbers and not letters. Bingo! The answer came; perhaps I had Dyscalculia.

Who are you? I have two students that received just about the same feedback from me. I went into their answers, and carefully dissected where they had gone wrong - gave them more direction and the opportunity to take another cut at the assignment.

One might argue that if Instructional Design encompasses all aspects of creating eLearning materials, then it begins to phase out the need for professional IDs because any subject matter who knows the design tools can develop eLearning. I disagree. Just because someone knows how to use the tools doesn't mean he or she knows how to write instructionally. In fact, I believe the more an ID can branch out, the more marketable and necessary we become. It's one-stop shopping.

When creating the design it is always better to find out about the power and weak point of learning students. We always store the point ponder, so that we at all times create cost-efficient quality merchandise or lessons.
