In my technical writing world, I get paid to think about these things. They inspire and spark transformation through their passion for their company, idea, product, project, etc...That's because passion is contagious. Great Instructional Design attracts learners to the content, to the performance ideal, and to the change process. This attraction is essential for changing behavior. Change is difficult at best and painful at worst. But when we are attracted to something we are willing to change for it. We want to absorb it and ingest it and become it. Not because someone tells us we should, but because we want to. Because we are attracted to it. I write a lot of content, and I can tell you that even the best content is no substitute for design.

1) You must be committed to your dreams and goals. We are not talking about "fingers-crossed-wishing". We are talking that unshakable, gut level determination. If you don't have this, if you are just "hoping" this will work, don't even get started. No successful person starts a business on a whim, or with a mere fantasy.

Keep in mind that a leader who dominates his team won't be a very effective leader. That's why most top students doesn't succeed in the same manner in the aspect of leading people. This implies that leadership isn't limited to very excellent individuals. Remember, leading doesn't require one to be super smart; you just need to learn to be a team player and also learn to strive for self-development. Leading people requires you to work hand in hand with the people under you. This is the leadership style that works best, but don't hesitate to adjust to a different style depending on the situation.
Risk-taking. Leaders sometimes take a fall-some are harder than others. But if they do not risk their neck and their reputation, then they will not also learn the value of victory. Young leaders have to come to terms with the level of risk they can take comfortably. They also need to learn how to establish safety nets in case some of their risky maneuvers fail.

Be authentic. Your message must be not only instructional clarity clients but also real. "Own" your message. Build the core of your presentation around the concept of filling a need. Demonstrate how your expertise will benefit your clients, then prove why you're the right match for that client.

Personal Growth and Leadership - Offer training programs and opportunities for employees of all levels to grow. The skills required to lead are not taught. These are too often assumed or passed on as a 'follow the way the previous person did it'. Personal growth, Leadership Development and effective communication skills are the keys to running the successful workplace of the future.
