Man in serious condition after shooting at police on westbound Northgate Drive Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 7500 block of Northgate Drive around 6 p.m. on reports of a man with a gun at the scene. A witness told officers that a man with a gun was trying to gain access to his apartment when a short distance away in the 7500 block of Northgate Drive. Police arrived at the scene, and found two adults shot and a man in a semi-automatic shotgun outside of the apartment.

Police said the suspect had "a handgun in a backpack and shot another man, who was then shot dead and the second man died of his injuries."

It was unclear whether the men had been shot before the shooting or whether a weapon had been involved.

Officers discovered the suspect's body at a house in the 7300 block of Northwest 20th Street about 15 minutes after the shooting.

Witnesses said they could hear the gunshot just before 3 p.m., and said the scene had just started to quiet.

A neighbor said: "I saw two kids, possibly boys, running to a home. Some of them looked so scared, I don't know if they heard the gunshots or maybe they heard something but I think it was just gunshots. It looked like someone was trying to get them, or someone had some sort of weapon but apparently it wasn't a gun.

"I see police cars out there, and then they disappear. I am wondering if anyone was there, if someone got hit or injured and 바카라 they haven't come back. This is really scary."

Officers discovered a.22 caliber semi-automatic weapon near the scene, which was found to have nine rounds.

"I have been in a lot of fights, I have a lot of kids fighting, but this is different," a man said.

Police have not given out any details about a possible motive for the shooting, but noted that "there was a lot of panic when the shooting began."

A witness said the crime scene appeared as though a "huge struggle" had taken place and a "huge gun battle" was occurring "right next to the house."

Police say that at this point the investigation remains open and that "it is important to stay calm and observe the situation in the best possible light."

The incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE, Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2013: The suspect in the shooting of a young adult at a northwest Minneapolis home in 2010 has been identified as 26-year-old Mark Tausen.
