Maroons survive scare from baby blues

MELBOURNE'S star-studded home and away season was ended with the Blues defeated by Wests Tigers in a thrilling and entertaining clash on Saturday night.

The match that the Bombers' supporters have been hoping would deliver an early sign of hope came to nothing, with a late try from centre Lachlan Coote setting up his side for a 27-25 win.

"We have the first-half performance down, but we have still got to do some more."

Just before lunch the Tigers, who had scored eight tries in each of their previous three matches, looked set to take over control, when Luke Brooks scored the side's second try.
