Daniel morcombes killer cowan attacked in prison and killed by ex-colleague

"A number of other prison staff members from the prison have also gone to the prison, which is in the North Yorkshire prison system. This could have been avoided by those same staff members helping the inmates," an official said.

A former fellow prisoner, who was with Morcombes in the prison when he was gunned down, had said the killer had asked to see prisoners before they were killed.

Morcombes' son, a senior member of Morcombes' staff, said staff had been "terrified" because they had to see all the prisoners before they were killed.

He claimed the killer, who had the words "Torture by death" tattooed on his torso, was also in charge of a mobile phone, mobile phones and a camera.

In court, a witness said Morcombes had been shot while on his mobile phone and had been left in a "brutal state". The court heard a bullet went through his foot.

Morcombes was jailed for life for killing David James, 45, as he sat at his house in Shaftesbury in January 2010, in the mid-1990s.

He denied the murder, which he said was inspired by a YouTube video of his killing of a colleague, and 바카라 asked the court for a life ban for life.

Morcombes was moved into isolation in July for the first time in his life in 2011 after the murder of another prison officer.

The judge in the former prison's retrial, 바카라 which is taking place in the north-west city of Leeds, told a judge "you will want to ensure that you act as a deterrent".

He gave Morcombes credit for living his life "out of step" with the community, having "died from a heart disease, a mental illness or from an accident".

Morcombes, a father of five children, had been on the run for more than a year before he was captured last November after having been on the run from police.

Police raided Morcombes' home in Shaftesbury and found his former prison-mate, Stephen Williams, who said there was no one to kill him as there was an established chain of command in the prison.

Williams, 52, had called his mother just after midnight on 25 November to say he was going to kill himself. His statement was broadcast on BBC Radio Sheffield.

Williams had been drinking, had been seen in a supermarket the night before and had returned to Morcombes' house, where he was found dead in front of his young grandson.
