If the whole of your body is wide and you have fewer curves, do not wear clothes with bold or large print detail. Go slow with the contrasting colors and avoid large pocketed pants. Opt for long jackets and shirts, and tapered sleeves at the wrist. Choose monochromatic colors to complement your body shape. Pear shaped women have large hips and a narrow bust. Do not wear hip ending tops. Again, short skirts will not do you justice, since they will draw all the attention towards your hips. Opt for light colors on your upper side of the body and dark colors for your bottom side. Other accessories that can complement your body shape include; necklaces, scarves, and wide necked outfits. For the narrow framed women, do not wear accessories which emphasize on the waist area such as; straight jackets, belts, and colored accessories around the waist. Avoid clothes with vertical lines and choose contrasting colors, low waist pants, horizontal stripes, and empire cuts. These will highlight both the upper and lower side of your body. This week, we’re crushin’ on Scottish singer-songwriter and all round mega babe, Nina Nesbitt. After giving us tracks like Peroxide and Chewing Gum, she returns with new single, Somebody Special and we can’t get enough of it. Hard to believe she’s only 23, right? Here’s what went down when we grabbed five… How did it all start for you? I started uploading videos to YouTube when I was 15 and built a fan base for a few years, it’s been really gradual for me, touring with other artists, signing to Island records when I was 17, being lucky to receive support from Radio 1 etc, lots of different things have been helpful in building my career to where it is now! What does your typical day look like? Every day is actually so different, which is why I love doing what I do. It’s mostly studio sessions where I’m writing for myself or other people’s projects, doing promo, travelling abroad to play shows, going on tour here etc, there is no day the same.
I’m lucky I get to meet lots of people and experience lots of different things which definitely inspires my writing. Describe your sound in three words… I can describe it in two… What was your most memorable gig? Hmmm, I’ve played so many shows over the years, but I’d say most recently playing my November tour last year was really special. It was the first bigger venue tour in a while and the reception from the crowds were so good, to hear people singing the new songs was amazing. It’s made me really excited for my next tour in May. What did you have on your playlist growing up? My mum is Swedish, so she always played straight up pop music around the house. She also loved divas like Whitney, Mariah etc. It was definitely very female pop led. Then my Dad is Scottish and loves bands like Roxy Music and I always thought it was boring until I discovered Brian Eno a few years ago and realised he was involved with Roxy Music. So it must have subconsciously been in there all along ha.
