Today is the anniversary of one of the biggest milestones in the evolution of my feminine side: it’s ten years since I first went to the Boudoir dressing service in London. It was so important because this was the first time I had ever had proper hair, had makeup done professionally and the first time I ever really looked like a woman. Naturally, it was only when I got the internet at home that this whole emergence thing became a real possibility. In the heady days before Facebook, Google, Wikipedia and WiFi broadband, intrepid webonauts would "dial up" their service and launch their electronic craft upon unknown seas of networked wonders. Who needed YouTube when you could watch Hampsterdance endlessly? And who needed a blog when there was Geocities? I digress. In those far-flung days I remember tentatively typing the one word, "transvestite", into a search engine and feared for what might happen when I pressed the Enter button. Acrtually what happened was a lovely site popped up at the top of the list.
I remember moving to my current home a few weeks before that New Year and, despite the enormous amount of decorating work that was going on and the quantities of paint and Polyfilla I was buying, I spent hundreds of pounds getting myself a full new wardrobe of women's clothes, from shoes to bras to nighties to skirts, raiding all of London's shoe shops and department stores to do so. I didn't go out dressed at that time so, frankly, I feel proud of my bravery buying all those feminine things in boy mode. And in those early years after that resolution, like a lot of TGirls, I'd come home from work, throw off those horrid male work clothes straight away and slip into something altogether more appropriate, and declare "I am a woman".frenchconnection.com I'd say. "I have to act like a man and appear like a man, but really I'm a woman." Maybe I'd not be quite so bold as to make such a black and white statement today, but it was a liberation from the oppression I felt before. In my last post I mentioned that Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia in 1977 had a profound effect on me and I took steps to embrace my femme side. That was a rocky journey for those next twenty years because of so many family and other cultural pressures, hence the many purges and resolutions to stamp out my trans leanings. But these last twenty years have been amazing in my female development and I hope that they are a precursor to two more decades of embracing my femininity. Here, by the way, is my new avatar for 2017 (which I will get onto Blogger when I can remember how). I always change my profile pics every New Year, usually picking my favourite from the previous year.

Will it remain on the outward fringe of mainstream? Will the new trend be a grow out of the sidebuzzed undercuts? Josie Bissett, Pheobe Cates and Chyna Phillips of Wilson Phillips made popular in the early 90's as a backlash to the severity of the buzzed side look. I may be wrong and it may be another year or two off, but I see that making a comeback. I also have yet another set of pics of Mrs Mac who went and got her hair professionaly toned downed and got lowlights to go back to how her hair color looked in early summer. Mrs Mac has gotten a ton of compliments on the cut and color, since she went back to a more natural color as the bleached out look was short lived due to negative comments as mentioned on my previous post. Which leaves me to my last comment. Besides all of you making this blog, I have to thank the person the most responsible and that is my wife, Mrs Mac. She is an inspiration to me and this blog. She was a short haired babe when I met her and has continued to be one to this day. Her willingness to try different short hair styles in the past 7 years and her love for short styles, is what inspired this blog to exist in the first place.
