We’ve teamed up with non-profit organisation Girls Out Loud, who help to inspire confidence and self-esteem in girls through coaching and mentoring practices. We’ve made our own personal pledges to International Women’s Day this year, these are statements that we stand by and withhold and will continue to do so going forward. Here at Missguided, we believe that girls and women around the world should be encouraged to follow their dreams, no matter what they might be. Let’s help to raise each other up and stand together. We are striving to convey a positive message in our campaigns where girls and women are made to feel empowered through our ethos and our imagery.
MakeYourMark campaign, showing real and un-retouched girls to set a realistic beauty standard. At Missguided we have always collaborated and incredible female talent, this is something we will continue to act on and strive to include in everything we do. There are so many incredible women that we have collaborated with in the past and so many that we would love to work with, in the future. Girl power is the way forward. We want to change unrealistic beauty standards in the fashion industry as part of our pledge to encourage and inspire confidence in all our customers. By working with an inclusive set of women, we hope to provide role models for girls and women around shop the latest trending womens dresses world. We think that everyone is perfect in their own way, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Own your ‘imperfections’ and learn to love them… MakeYourMark campaign was one of our faves, showing real girls with real and un-retouched bodies. You do you, hun. We’ve partnered with ‘Bold is Beautiful’ by Benefit Cosmetics to fill their charity pop-ups with donated Missguided clothes. Benefit have these pop-ups in three locations during May, taking clothes donations from various fashion brands. The money then goes to the charities ‘Refuge’ and ‘Look Good Feel Better’.
An oldie but a goodie, the Disney 1941 animation is one to get on your watch list. If you don’t watch Home Alone at Christmas, you’re doing it wrong. Past contestants including Selasi and Val reunite for a Christmas bake off special. The remake everyone waited for. Emma Watson stars as Belle in the 2017 adaptation. If there’s one thing you watch, make it this. A house swap leads to two festive couple ups starring a stellar cast of Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black. Whisk yourself away in a sci-fi alien adventure starring a young Drew Barrymore. A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down. And a watching of Mary Poppins will make your Xmas that lil’ bit better. Another Disney animation - this time lose yourself in part of her world in the classic film - The Little Mermaid. Travel back in time to 1955 with Michael J Fox in this sci-fi adventure. Jack Black plays a pretend teacher in this comedy about a school project that turns into a rock concert. With an epic soundtrack, killer moves and a standout cast - there’s a reason Dirty Dancing is so big.
Rom com starring Hugh Grant and Rowan Atkinson to name a few, this BAFTA winning film is a loveable flick perf for a rainy day. Another Disney fairytale well worth waking up for. Tom Hanks stars in this epic animation about a boy who doesn’t believe in Santa Clause. The visuals are stunning alone. With a cast of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, John Cleese and Julie Andrews - what better way to spend your time off? Onto the next Harry Potter instalment - this one sees Twilight fave, Robert Pattinson join the cast. Another Jack Black film - this time he stars as a Kung Fu fighting Panda. Bringing sexy back (couldn’t help that one…), Justin Timberlake joins the cast for the third part to the Shrek franchise. Yes, we recommend them all… Hugh Grant and a young Nicholas Hoult go on a journey of ups and downs in this heart-warming story about a bachelor that helps a 12 year-old boy after his mother attempts suicide. Beautifully shot, Up is the tale of an elderly widow who ties balloons to his house to float to South Africa to fulfil his and his late wife’s dream.
