Remote senior drivers charged 280 to renew licence on Tuesday after being told they had two years on their driving license.

The drivers were allowed to take their licences back. They were issued with an expiry date in September 2017.

The drivers can re-register their licences if they want, it said, though the department does not recognise any change in their licence details.

The department has said it has no plans to issue licences to licence takers who were still driving after September 2017 and who did not renew their licences.

'This does nothing to deter those who do not wish to be licensed from trying to renew their licences,' said deputy registrar general for operations and licensing Paul O'Sullivan.

The decision has prompted anger on social media, with people saying they would never drive after September 2017.

"They're stupid enough to do this and I hope the politicians realise this," tweeted Rt Hon Mike Baird, 바카라 saying they should stop this stupid policy.

The department said it was only going after drivers who drove for more than three days in an extended period.
