Here’s what went down when we grabbed five… How did it all start for you? I started uploading videos to YouTube when I was 15 and built a fan base for a few years, it’s been really gradual for me, touring with other artists, signing to Island records when I was 17, being lucky to receive support from Radio 1 etc, lots of different things have been helpful in building my career to where it is now! What does your typical day look like? Every day is actually so different, which is why I love doing what I do. It’s mostly studio sessions where I’m writing for myself or other people’s projects, doing promo, travelling abroad to play shows, going on tour here etc, there is no day the same.

I’m lucky I get to meet lots of people and experience lots of different things which definitely inspires my writing. Describe your sound in three words… I can describe it in two… What was your most memorable gig? Hmmm, I’ve played so many shows over the years, but I’d say most recently playing my November tour last year was really special. It was the first bigger venue tour in a while and the reception from the crowds were so good, to hear people singing the new songs was amazing. It’s made me really excited for my next tour in May. What did you have on your playlist growing up? My mum is Swedish, so she always played straight up pop music around the house. She also loved divas like Whitney, Mariah etc. It was definitely very female pop led. Then my Dad is Scottish and loves bands like Roxy Music and I always thought it was boring until I discovered Brian Eno a few years ago and realised he was involved with Roxy Music. So it must have subconsciously been in there all along ha.
|
